A Place Just For You
Our mission is to foster the growth of our organization with dedication to the following:
copyright © 2009 California Utah Women All rights reserved

The organization now known as California Utah Women (CUW) was originally organized in 1939 by Edna T. Jenkins and Eloise Berry McEwan as the Utah Women’s Club. Their intention was to bring women with common heritage together and allow them to discuss and exchange experiences. They wanted to build friendships that would continue to grow. The first annual luncheon was held in April 1940.
In response to the need for clothing in the war-torn countries of Europe, in 1940 Mrs. Blanche Mattson, Mrs. Roy Sommers, Mrs. Ann Hoyt and Mrs. Louis K. Sims formed a Utah Women’s chapter of the American Red Cross that was supported by the Utah Women’s Club by making layettes, sweaters, surgical gowns and other items. Although their Red Cross Chapter lasted only a few years it was the beginning of philanthropic work for the organization.
In 1958, the name of the organization was officially changed to California Utah Women and a logo was created using the California Poppy and the Utah Sego Lily. The logo was changed in 1971 to the current logo.
CUW began donations to Ettie Lee Youth and Family Services in 1966 and has continued its relationship with that organization all these many years.
We're looking for some fun and interesting photos of you, along with your friends and family, at the CUW Luncheon and Boutique. If you have some photos you would like to share with us on our website, please email them to info@cuwonline.com. We look forward to seeing you.
